Offenhauser part number 1069 is a high-performance aluminum cylinder head specifically designed for Ford and Mercury Flathead V8 engines from the years 1949 to 1953. These are commonly found in vehicles with the “8BA” or “8CM” style flathead engines—often referred to as the “late” flathead. The 1069 heads are designed for 24-stud blocks and are available in different compression options, the most common being the 1069-400 (higher compression, for most builds) and the 1069-425 (slightly lower compression, useful for certain configurations or forced induction).

  • Engines: Ford and Mercury 8BA/8CM Flathead V8, 1949–1953 (typically 239ci, but may also work on similar aftermarket blocks based on this design).
  • Vehicles: 1949–1953 Ford cars and trucks, 1949–1953 Mercury cars, and compatible classic or hot rod builds using those flathead engines.

These heads will not fit earlier “59AB” flathead engines (1939–1948); for those, Offenhauser 1068 heads are used instead.
