Description
Dual Carburetor Linkage for 216-235-261 Chevrolet. Used with 1034 & 1035 Dual Intake Manifolds 1937-1962.
The Offenhauser 1034K linkage kit is designed to connect your throttle cable or mechanical linkage to the carburetor(s), especially when you’ve got multiple carbs or need to adapt from an original mechanical rod to a cable setup. Here’s how it works and how it hooks up:
Throttle Cable Connection:Â – The kit generally consists of a bell crank that mounts to your intake manifold. The bell crank acts as a pivot point that translates motion from your cable or rod to the carburetor throttle lever. – If your vehicle already has a throttle cable from the firewall, you’ll need a way to anchor the cable housing. The actual cable passes through a bracket (usually provided or recommended) and attaches to either the carb lever directly or the bell crank, depending on your setup. – Many users find it convenient to use an aftermarket bracket (such as from Lokar or similar, sometimes called a carb linkage plate) to properly anchor the cable and align it with the carburetor or bell crank.
Mechanical Linkage Hookup:Â – If you’re using mechanical linkage (a rod from the firewall), that rod connects directly to the bell crank provided in the kit. – The bell crank is then mounted to the manifold using a stud or bolt, in a position that allows the linkage to move freely. – From the bell crank, a short cable or rod runs “around the corner” to the carburetor lever, usually making up the last leg of the connection. – The bell crank in the 1034K kit typically has several holes/levers drilled into it, allowing you to fine-tune the linkage to get the right amount of throttle movement and to accommodate a variety of carb linkage angles.
Tips for Installation: – Choose the hole on the bell crank that provides the correct throttle travel – farther out increases travel, closer to the pivot decreases travel. – For automatic transmissions, the bell crank can also accept the kickdown cable or rod. – If adapting from mechanical to cable completely, some light fabrication or additional brackets might be necessary, as the kit is primarily designed for early vehicles with mechanical linkage but can be made to work with cable if you engineer an appropriate anchor for the cable housing.
