Offenhauser part number 0307-1 is a pilot bearing adapter can be used with 0307, 3634, & 5204 engine/transmission adapters. These adapters are used to mate a small-block Chevrolet V-8 engine to an early Ford manual transmission (often the “flathead” style). 0307 adapter is a partial bellhousing, about three and a half inches deep, that bolts onto the back of the Chevy engine and is designed to use the large, old 161-tooth Chevrolet flywheel and an early starter that bolts to the bellhousing, not the block. The 0307-1 is a bronze bushing in a steel sleeve for the pilot shaft, which is inserted into the crankshaft. This setup allows you to use an early Ford manual transmission with a Chevrolet engine for classic hot rod applications or restoration projects.
